MODERATION / REPORTING

How moderation works when a chat crosses the line.

Private conversation still needs clear controls. Blocking ends your interaction; reporting helps flag conduct that may require review or action.

01

TWO DIFFERENT TOOLS

Block for your boundary; report for a safety or policy concern

Blocking is the fastest way to stop interaction with a participant through the available controls. You can use it whenever you do not want further contact, even if the behavior may not violate a rule.

Reporting is appropriate for harassment, threats, hate, scams, impersonation, suspected minors, exploitation, unwanted sexual content or another possible breach of the Community Guidelines.

02

USEFUL CONTEXT

Report the relevant participant or message

Use the in-conversation report controls and select the concern that best describes what happened. When the product lets you identify a message, choose the clearest example rather than relying on a vague description.

Do not put yourself at further risk to gather evidence. Leave first when you feel unsafe. For an immediate real-world danger, contact local emergency services rather than waiting for a platform response.

03

AFTER A REPORT

Reports inform proportionate moderation decisions

A report is a signal, not automatic proof. Available context, severity, patterns and policy are considered when determining an appropriate response.

Possible action may include warnings, feature restrictions or access restrictions. Privacy and legal obligations can limit what we tell a reporter about another participant, but reporting still helps identify harmful behavior and recurring patterns.

  • False or abusive reports can themselves violate the rules.
  • Serious safety concerns should be reported promptly.
  • Moderation does not replace personal caution or emergency services.

FAQ

Questions people ask before they start

Should I block or report someone?

Block when you want contact to stop. Also report when the conduct may violate the Community Guidelines or put someone at risk.

Does one report automatically ban a person?

Not necessarily. Reports are assessed using the available context, severity, patterns and applicable rules.

What should I do in an emergency?

Leave the conversation and contact local emergency services if anyone faces an immediate real-world danger. A platform report is not an emergency response channel.
